The Mushroom Cloud Was the Opening of Portals Beyond

the Atomic Bomb of Twin Peaks: The Return

Episode 8 of Twin Peaks: The Return is deemed the masterpiece episode of the latest season of our beloved TV series. Among the events that occurred was that of the atomic bomb. As we are moving toward it and soon into the mushroom cloud itself, we are soon revealed the massive impact the bomb had made on not just the world, but the Universe and its many dimensions as well.

It is so brilliantly filmed as if we're in some sort of aircraft that we're just hoping won't break amid all the explosions within the cloud. So many colors dwelling vibrantly as if nebulas of the Universe, and the sudden shift of scenes into the Universe with the dancing stars almost like that of Cooper's falling at the beginning of the season and having the similar vibes of Eraserhead. But the explosions... the explosions give the answer to the emergence of the entities that have dwelled in the world and Universe ever since.

Judy vomitting upon release from the Atomic Bomb in Twin Peaks: The Return

BOB birthed from Judy's vomit

It is from this atomic bomb that Judy enters the world and gives birth to another great evil from her vomit, BOB. It if wasn't for the explosive impact of the mushroom cloud itself, there wouldn't be a powerful breach for her to enter, or any other entity for that matter. Each explosion may have released one or more at a time, making the possibility that there is not just Judy, BOB, the Cowboy, the Phantom, the Twinkies, and maybe even the Mystery Man of all the Lynch-verse. Though I'm sure this is common knowledge or observation of most who have seen The Return, I can't help but feel in awe of how Lynch knew how to bring to life the atomic bomb's impact not only cinematically, but as a metaphor how the creation of bomb brought only more evil than good to the world.

Fantastic how also the atomic bomb served as a part of the Universe by its depiction and the probability of time travel through wormholes, white and black holes, etc. It could've also made the alternative dimensions from the main dimension by shattering it into many many pieces and scattering them to whatever format and formation they resulted. Because of this, we'll never know which reality is the real reality, which makes the world and Universe an even more mysterious and intriguing place.

A beautiful gem in the entirety of The Return. The origins of everything sinister and mysterious all explained within only a few minutes and without words for the series as a whole, thanks to the genius cinematic vision of the one and only David Lynch.
